Giving Tuesday

27-Nov-2018 9:15:00 AM / by Caleb Dow

After the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are over, there is a relatively new day that is become increasingly well known and supported: GivingTuesday. Just as the name states, it’s a day dedicated to giving. Around the world, GivingTuesday brings together non-profits, individuals, companies, and communities.

The thing we like about GivingTuesday the most is that it proves that as individuals and companies we are capable of achieving so much when we come together.

We love that GivingTuesday has become a day to celebrate giving. Although this is the day that gets the most publicity, there are companies that have created a culture of celebrating and promoting doing good year round. At Porpoise, that’s what we do best. We provide companies with a platform that connects employees around the good they are doing every single day in their communities.

But as a company, we don’t just facilitate giving for other companies, we like to give back ourselves as well! Giving has been a big part of the Porpoise culture since day one. This is what prompted us to become members of the Upside Foundation and Pledge 1%. Our mission to help companies #CelebrateTheGood and promote doing good is also what attracted most of our people to start working here.

How We Give Back

Every member of the Porpoise team gives back in their own way. Many of our team members have volunteered their time and talents abroad in places like Malawi, Colombia, Morocco, Honduras, Haiti.

The Porpoise team also supports a number of companies locally. We're active members in our community, and have supported 50 organizations over the past year. From designing websites for non-profits to teaching elementary students about technology and innovation, many of our volunteering initiatives have been examples of skills based volunteering.

Here are a few Porpoise posts of the team in action!
